Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus uncapped commission
Job type: Full-time | Hybrid

Ideally based in the South of England. This hybrid role combines home working, time at company premises as required, and customer site visits, with frequent travel across the UK, including overnight stays.
About us
MachineTech Ltd is the exclusive UK and Ireland distributor for RodRadar’s Live Dig Radar (LDR) system. This technology integrates ground penetrating radar into excavator buckets, providing operators with real-time information about buried utilities during excavation. We’re looking for a practical, customer-focused Applications Specialist to help customers get the best from their equipment.
The role
Your focus will be delivering customer training, providing technical support and helping operators use the RodRadar LDR system effectively. You’ll work directly with customers, both remotely and on site, building relationships and resolving technical issues. You’ll also assist with installation when required, identify commercial opportunities and contribute to sales and growth within the business.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver practical training to new customers following purchase, helping operators become confident using the system.
- Provide ongoing technical advice, application guidance and troubleshooting remotely and on customer sites.
- Investigate technical issues and coordinate further support where needed.
- Assist with equipment installation and initial setup when required.
- Build strong customer relationships, identify commercial opportunities and contribute to sales and growth within the business.
- Maintain clear records of training, support activity and customer follow-up.
- Support other areas of the business when not engaged in RodRadar activities.
About you
You’ll ideally come from a surveying or engineering background and enjoy combining practical technical work with customer interaction.
We’re looking for:
- Strong practical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to explain technical information clearly and deliver effective customer training.
- A proactive, organised approach and the ability to work independently across home, company premises and customer sites.
- Confidence working with customers, operators and site teams.
- Commercial awareness and a willingness to identify opportunities to grow the business.
- Willingness to travel frequently across the UK, including overnight stays.
- A full driving licence valid for driving in the UK.
Experience using surveying equipment, particularly total stations and GPS/GNSS systems, would be an advantage. Experience with ground penetrating radar (GPR) technology would also be helpful but is not essential.
What we offer:
- A salary of £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- Uncapped commission linked to sales and growth within the business.
- A company vehicle and fuel card.
- A hybrid role with varied customer-facing work.
- The opportunity to work with innovative excavation technology and contribute to a growing area of the business.
